A Live Attenuated Vaccine for Enhanced Immune Response

iNCOVACC is classified as a live attenuated vaccine, containing a weakened form of the Covid-19 virus. This type of vaccine is particularly effective in generating an immune response in the upper airways and nasal passages, where the virus typically enters the body.

Safety and Efficacy Demonstrated in Clinical Trials

Clinical trials have shown that iNCOVACC is both safe and effective in preventing Covid-19. The vaccine has exhibited a 67% effectiveness in preventing symptomatic infection and an impressive 90% effectiveness in preventing severe disease.

Availability and Cost

iNCOVACC is now available in India and can be booked through the government’s online platform. The vaccine is priced at 800 rupees ($10; £8) per dose in private hospitals and 325 rupees per dose in government hospitals.

Strengthening India’s Fight Against Covid-19

The launch of iNCOVACC marks a significant milestone in India’s battle against the pandemic. By offering a novel method of protection against the virus, this vaccine has the potential to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases and associated fatalities.

Complementary Vaccines in India’s Arsenal

India is employing a range of vaccines to safeguard its population against Covid-19. Alongside iNCOVACC, the country is utilizing the Covishield vaccine, a collaboration between AstraZeneca and the Serum Institute of India, as well as the Covaxin vaccine, developed by Bharat Biotech.

A Crucial Step for India’s Covid-19 Response

With one of the world’s largest populations, India has been significantly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. As of March 8, 2023, the country has reported over 43 million cases and more than 520,000 deaths. The introduction of iNCOVACC is a promising development that can potentially curtail the number of infections and fatalities.

Complementary Measures and Precautions

While iNCOVACC offers an additional layer of protection, it is important to remember that no vaccine guarantees 100% effectiveness. Therefore, individuals should continue to adhere to other preventive measures, including wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and maintaining good hand hygiene.
